I've posted before about my 3 year old Lucy. 3 days ago, she began not so much vomiting as spilling vomit out of her beak when she leans over. She also has the runny poops. I have picked her up, turned her over, and massaged her crop dry 3 times. The contents were green and liguidy. Still, she spills over every time she tries to eat. Last night, I flushed her with molasses and water. She hasn't improved much. She wants to eat and drink, but just seems to be turned off when she tries. She did eat some yogurt and applesauce yesterday. My quandry: should I take her to the vet? It's Friday, so if I don't go today, I'll have to wait til Monday. BUT I'm afraid that in her weakened state, the trauma of going to the vet may just do her in. God, I'm going crazy trying to make up my mind. The alternative: moving her inside the house where it's not so stifling hot, where I can nurse her constantly, and hoping for the best.
Any ideas? Any suggestions for further steps I can take to help her digestive system heal?

Hope I don't get lost in the shuffle.

I think this calls for a vet... I know that's not what you want to hear... but I have no idea what would cause vomitting in a bird.

P.s. Definitely take her in and start taking care of her. I hope she doesn't have an impacted crop.

ps-I hope you're not implying that I don't take care of my birds! I've spent hours attending to Lucy and plenty of time just holding and comforting her. She is very much loved.

Oh I am not implying that... I just think its best to seperate a sick or hurt bird from the rest of the flock. Chickens can be pretty nasty to hurt birds... especially if they want that bird's place in the order!!!

I would never think that someone didn't take care of their animals because they get sick! I just lost a chick this morning who seemed healthy and happy yesterday... and I think I take real good care of my birds.

I think what vfem was trying to say was, get er done whatever needs to be done. You know how we are about our chickies, do what we need to do to get er done!!! No matter what sometimes. They are our babies.
Good Luck and keep us updated
