There is oozing but it wasn't until we tried the hobble brace thing that was suggested.
There will be some oozing from serum in the area. She meant more non-clear and nasty oozing. Infection of the area, not just a little immune fight. A topical antibiotic will handle the bacteria there presently. The inflammation is indicative of an immune battle going on and probably tissue damage and general inflammation. Because she's not at all lethargic, I wouldn't medicate internally yet. Not at all. I think it would cause more problems than good.
Ah yes I found your other post.
I was the only one who posted.
The chick was 2 days old when you first posted.
How long did you continue to tape the leg?

We would tape the leg during the tape and take it off during the night to see the progress. We only did this for two days but we stopped because we saw a lot of progression. The chick began putting weight on its leg and walking a little.
I know it sounds hard, but you need to tape it again. Everyday slowly tape it closer and closer together. Kind of like braces (mouth). You may need to work at it slowly due to the swelling.

When we tape her legs she cries a lot and has a lot of trouble getting around. The other chicks step on her a lot, should we seperate her and if so, what kind of area should we put her in?
I have a full grown hen that broke her leg in that spot. It ended up abcessing-which can be difficult in birds. Abcesses in birds are hard to clear up as the pus is very hard and needs actually be removed and not expressed. ANyway, after clearing that up, she hops around on one leg as she has now done for years and is one of my friendliest chickens.
I wouldnt tape is she is crying. It is probably in the process of healing and you are putting pressure on it by torquing it. I wouldnt remove her unless she is getting picked on. I also would tape for spraddle leg as that doe snot lok like spraddle leg, especially since you know she had an injury.
ll my medical care was done in a hospital as I am a certified tech, but it can be done by others with some support.

Personally I would seperate. If you have some thing with a non slick surface that would be good to use in the bottom of a box or clothes basket or something similar.
Yes separate her from the rest....well, after typing that grab another chick to keep with her so she will not be lonely. A clearview container or tub. pine shavings on the bottom same kinda of set up as you have for the rest. Except no roost. Cries how? you kinda have to judge it. Pick her up and stretch her wing and handle other areas of her body and "not" her injured leg. See if she cries the same. Remember, you can take her to the vet. If that is not an option....well "you" are her only hope for care and nurturing. Just be gentle and "slowly" start the taping. Don't take off the taping at night. Example would be if your leg was broken would you take off your cast at night to see how well it's doing? No, you need to leave it on until it is better so you don't bend it out of wack again. So, with that being said, you need to be diligent and faithful to this chick to get it better so you can sit back later and watch it run around the yard with the other chickens.
Also, the more time and effort you spend now on getting your chick better the less you have to worry about it's future and how it will manage free ranging.
Okay enough of my rambling.
Keep us posted.
