Thought my broody hen was just going through the motions. One chick just hatched in my coop. I have 5 hens and 1 rooster. The coop is in a large dog run. Should I separate the hen and chick? Transplant the rest of the eggs with her? I didn’t think this would happen, chick is still wet. She’s sitting on other eggs. Don’t want my new chicks to get hurt.

I do have a dog crate I could wrap with ssmaller wire and leave in kennel or put totally away in basement for now. Thanx for response. I was totally unprepared for this. I was worried about disturbing her too soon the chick I believe just hatched. Should I let the rest hatch before I disturb them or get them the heck out of there? The rooster is in with the flock
