Hey guys! Complex question here..........We ordered 4 meat turkeys which we hope to raise, show in 4-H, and hopefully sell at the junior market sale or eat for ourselves. Anyways, our chicken flock was recently diagnosed with Marek's. And, if you have Marek's, no showing for you! I know turkeys can't get Marek's, but can we still bring the turkeys to fair if they were raised near Marek's infected chickens? Like would Marek's be on our poultry equipment, and on the turkey's bodies from living alongside our sick chickens, and them scratching around in the dirt? When the turkeys are old enough, they will live with the chickens, or at least in contact with one another. Thoughts? I have raised many market turkeys, but never with Mareks in my flock!
