Wow, that's harsh. My photo was of my two chicks that were hatched by my broody Cochin hen, in my own backyard. I am by no means a professional, I just take tons of photos and I happen to have a great camera!

I agree. It doesn't take a professional to take a quality photo...just someone who pays attention to the details and makes sure the photo is actually in focus. It amazed me to see how many that were submitted that were out of focus. I understand keeping an out of focus picture sometimes because it conveys a feeling to the owner but not to submit it for publication. No one else has that warm fuzzy special feeling connected to the photo...we just see an out of focus picture of a chicken. I didn't submit any pictures although I am a professional photographer and not because of that. I just don't have a lot of time for taking chicken pictures that I think would be pleasing to others. I am glad I didn't have to be a judge!

I didn't get my votes in on time but absolutely loved looking at all the candidates. Some did look like pro shots but that's ok because they were really, really good. I am still very new at this but so enjoy reading everyone's posts. There are some awesome chickens out there, and there are some awesome people too. Love being a part of this new family. Gardengirl Sandi + 1 border collie, 1 parakeet, and 6 different chicks 5 mo. old.
lmao...(yes I have some extra time on my hands this evening) Why would it even matter if the photo was taken by a professional photographer? Some people might be totally in to their chickens/"feathered loved-ones" and make appointments for them at Olan Mills or Life Touch to be photographed..}}Well maybe not "Life Touch", they take pictures of our kids at school. {{ lmao ~Julie~

LOL...my thoughts, too...very funny & you say it so nicely.
Yes, we either have, or will contact the winners. It's a long process, and in some cases even if the pics were voted the highest, if we don't receive super high resolution images we may need to go to the next person.
