Help...RATS

We don't use rat poison ...the bait stations are an empty container that fits a regular snap trap. We use regular people food like peanut butter so they have to really tug on it to set it off...or cheese or bacon.

No Poison...even if the chickens don't get into the poison, they will find and eat the dead rats who have ingested it. I believe it causes internal bleeding as it's an anticoagulant.

we make sure they are collected each day.

There was one egg that somehow was missed and in the morning it was cracked and eaten.

We didn't find any rat droppings or gnawed holes on anything.

Thank you for all your insight!

The BEST solution for us is a battery operated RAT ZAPPER! I love this thing. I tuck it in a corner away from curious chickens. It will kill mice and rats and is safe to put in the coop. We also have one in the feed barn. I smear a bit of peanut butter on the sides and roof within the zapper so the buggers have to stand on the metal plates to get the food and.........ZAP!!!

do the jug trap with the sunflower seeds. i've heard from multiple people that it works. but make sure to put peanut butter on the ramp.
