help re: pip over 30 hours ago

Thank you! I'm with you; after full consideration, I ended up doing a full assist a few hours ago. He finally gave me a few fighting cheeps and moved its wings a lot once he was out. Its feet are curled...I've already gone this far so I gave him some electrolyte water and put it back in the bator to get supplies for sandals. I don't know that much about sandals if anyone can help with specifics of the best way to make them or where good information might be, I'd be grateful. I'm also not sure what position is best to leave him in for recovery. I saw a post where someone had their chick placed over a Tampax box, but I can't locate it. I think that may help with the feet?
This is the link I give for spraddle leg and curled toes. It's from the chicken chick: http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2012/02/spraddle-leg-in-baby-chicks-what-is-it.html

Oh my goodness; that house goose pic of her while you're at work is hilarious! Henry's a cutie.

Thank you again AmyLynn. I just finished reading her (The Chicken Chick's) info on wry neck because it's looking like this chick might have that as well, but I'm not positive. It's feet are not curled like a new chicks would be; they are more deformed &/or crippled. It started pulling itself around by the beak and wings; definitely a special needs chick if it pulls through. This is the only one that hatched from my shipped eggs while the rest I obtained from my in town small breeder are already in the brooder. Wish the poor little guy (and me) luck! I'll keep you posted

That's terrible I'm sorry as I said I'm a newb n learnin on the fly so to speak lol I lost one cuz I didn't leave it in the incubator long enough it seems w the heritage breeds things arnt herd and fast for time. It makes sense things just arnt perfect in nature. Unlike the poor battery chickens things are well timed for profit no room for problems shells vary in thickness size n shape. I have hands n can help

I wanted to let everyone know what happened and say thank you. I gave it every effort by hand feeding and vitamin supplement (for wry), but it finally gave up. I've never seen such a tough bird! It got stronger and was able to move about and eat, but then took a dive and died overnight. I just thought I'd update so those who are new at rescue would feel less like they did something wrong and more like it may not be capable of making it; even with every effort. Thanks again for all advice!

Sorry to hear that. At least you know you tried your hardest and gave it a chance.
