I put it back in the incubator completely vertical with the big end up. It's still alive but gasping. What should I do? I don't really see very much veining on the inner membrane most of it's hatchmates are all hatched and doing fine. This egg did have a 14 day air cell on the 18th day. Should I pour the liquid out? Thus has never happened to me before and I'm freaking out!way at the shell only to have red liquid start pouring out. I put it back in the incubator completely vertical with the big end up. how did you repeat that whole paragraph twice? sorry, you hit a blood vein, it wasnt ready yet. pour the blood out quickly then put it back in and wait. really nothing you can do. it inhaled some fluid.

You're right. It wasn't ready. It must had hit a blood vessel because it pipped at the wrong end, plus it still had a lot of albumen left. It didn't make it.... :(

If you remove any shell at all you don't want to tear the membrane because of that. They could bleed to death. As long as it stopped bleeding it will be ok but I would just let the chick do the rest. Hope everything goes well.
