I have a 9 month old english orpington rooster he has been doing great up until Wednesday. Tuesday he was fine crowning mating dust bathing etc. .. Wednesday when I got home I noticed he was just standing in one spot not moving not free ranging with the girls. I picked him up and looked him over really well. He doesn't have mites he doesn't have any foul smells not sneezing no foamy or bubbly eyes. I did worm him with safeguard because he's never been wormwd. He has been ddrinking very well. Not eating the best but some. Yesterday he was free ranging a bit more and definitely pecking at the ground. I also notice in the morning when I let them out his comb is a little purple and it's not like that during the day.

Offer him some soft scrambled egg, low salt canned tuna, or good dry cat food for extra protein, and twice a week give him some probiotics or a small amount of buttermilk in his food. A vitamin supplement in the water would also be good. Internal illnesses such as a heart problem can show up at this age, and that could be responsible for the darkened comb. Just watch him, keep an eye on his poops, and feel of his keel or breast bone often to make sure he is not losing weight.

I know this is an old thread, but what was the outcome of your rooster? I'm having the same problem with my only rooster who is about 10 month and a blue orpington as well.
