Trying to find the appropriate sand to put in the run of my chicken coup, the floor is concrete as it was a dog run and i'm trying to figure out the best material to put down, they will be cooped up there for a few days to acclimate and then free range during the day

Best i could come up with at Lowes is "All purpose Tube Sand"

doesn't sound like concrete, ugh, don't know where to get the right sand, coming up with blanks. They do have small pea gravel :\

and then there's "Tube" sand

The quickcrete sand that they sell at Home Depot was wet which I didn't like. So then I bought the quickcrete play sand and loved that. Then I got a partial truckload delivered, of washed construction sand from the local nursery. That is working out for me. I keep it covered with a tarp.

Use a N95 mask when sifting sand...it is bad for the lungs. There is a "got sand you should" thread that is great.

So it is generally best to get washed sand if you can, I think!

I would not use sand in my chicken runs as it can be dangerous to the health of your chickens. There is a good article on the dangers of sand at http://www.fresh-eggs-daily.com/2013/07/the-real-scoop-on-using-sand-in-your.html Instead, I use fine pea gravel in my runs.

If they are going to only be in there a few days to acclimate then free range most of the time then I wouldn't even worry about it. Just hose it off now and then.
