help! sex gold cuckoo marans!

The thing I've yet to understand is, are people actually breeding to what I thought they were supposed to be? (brown-red w/barring) Because I'm seeing chicks that are black with a white dot, black and brown with a white dot, blue with a white dot, and the wildest yet but apparently common - chipmunk striped with a white dot. Striping usually indicates duckwing influence, like that of a Golden Salmon Marans, which with barring would make it a Crele.

I know this is old, but i read through this thread, and I'm curious as to how they turned out?

So all of those did turn out to be gold cuckoo marans? Would you mind posting a picture if you still have them?

King rooster are you asking because you have some golden cuckoo babies you need to sex? You could always post pics here

The male chicks I've had have always been lighter than the females. The head spot size are less reliable, I've had chicks with just barely a dot on the head and still turn out to be males.

Well I do have 2 gold cuckoo chicks, but Iknow which one is male, and which is female. I just want to know what the adults turned out like from those chicks, because my little pullet was never that Brown.

I don't know if you'll be able to see this, but this is my little rooster. I don't have a picture of my little girl yet. Will get one later

Here are a pair of my original 'golden cuckoos' I got these from pasofinofarms. They are from the Braden line. Their tails aren't normally smooshed like this...its because dh had the original roost too close to the wall of their baby brooder LOL. Anyhow, I remember the male being light yellowish gold with a dot on his head and the female being more brown but not chipmunky light brown like in the first pics on this thread. I can't for the life of me find their baby pics. They must be on my old computer that died lol.

Now this little guy is not a golden cuckoo like I originally once thought. He is a barred black tailed buff Marans. He was very chipmunky as a chick but not grey colored but very light yellow with brownish stripes and the tiniest dot on his head.

Him on the left.
