**Help sex my chick... Roo or pullet??!!!**

I was going to go with some light Sussex or buff Orpington next.
I've currently got 1 pekin bantam and 3 Poland. And 3 silkie chicks 2 Poland chicks and the little spitz.
My polands and bantams give me an egg nearly every day. And the Poland eggs are a fair size ☺

I would skip the Orpington since you *may* face plenty of broodiness among your Silkies and Cochin. :hmm

I absolutely love the beauty and human friendly personalities of the Speckled Sussex, even chose them to add to the few breeds I breed this year out of MANY I have kept. If the Light are even close to them, that might be a nice a selection. :love

Have you seen these breed comparison charts...

Best wishes on your many adventures! :pop

Update...
Bow is definitely Joe haha..
He crowed 3 times today!!
I've never had a chicken crow this early.. But he grew very fast!!
Thanks for all advice.
I'll need help with 3 silkies and 2 polands soon ☺

Thanks for the update. Look forward to seeing your others.:pop

I had a Silkie boy crow as young as 4 weeks and trying to mate by 8! His crowing that young was a side effect of my dogs howling every morning when my hubby got home from work. Chickens are big copy cats.

I will note (not relevant to THIS case) that crowing doesn't ALWAYS mean male... as I have a two year old barred Rock hen who just recently started crowing! :p

I also had a Poland who used to crow like crazy every morning haha and she was a girl.
I think 1 of my silkies is a boy because he's very big compared to the other 2 but it's a bit early to tell yet
