**Help sex my chick... Roo or pullet??!!!**

This is my lone hatching appenzeller spitzhauben.
He/she was hatched on 20th july
Making her almost 6 weeks old.
I've never had this breed before and was disappointed when only 1 egg hatched.
Was sure she was a girl until last week. Now I'm not so sure.
Any guesses?

Too young for gender feathers... but according to stated age... those are some pretty red waddles in pic #1!

The term for young roosters (you already got pullet) is cockerel.. And that's what I believe you've got there.

Most likely a cockerel, but not 100 % on that.

Cockerel. I don't believe a pullet would have as well developed and red wattles as your bird. Very pretty boy!

I'll probably still keep him but I was really hoping for a girl I need a chicken that lays medium sized eggs regularly.
But he's a very nice funky chicken
He's in with some silkies and Poland who are a 4 weeks younger than him and he's been so good with them. I was hoping it was those female hormones

I'd lean towards cockerel too. But I would also suggest picking a more neutral surface to take photos on, that pillow you have could alter the colors in your photos some.

Yes I'll keep everyone updated. I'll try and take some more pictures tomorrow. But he/she is quick it's hard to get a non smudged picture
