I was starting to doubt myself so I went and looked at my original order- all females (except the unsexed golden campine mystery chick).I would give it a couple of weeks to be sure about the sexes then email/call them and complain about the roos, it really almost seems like they sent you straight run on some breeds or something instead of sexed pullets. With the BR and BA you have at least two wrong and a good chance there may be more. Even if the price difference refund will only be a couple of dollars, they should at least know they need to pay more attention, or yell at their packers and/or chick sexers to do a better job.
I started with 16 chicks (15 minimum plus mystery).
1 died two days after I got them because of some kind of birth defect (had something on its butt that looked like a leathery prolapsed vent).
1 was attacked by my dog.
2 were taken by a hawk (one of which I am sure was a boy, he was a BR with way too much white and wasn't feathered even at 5 weeks of age).
So now I have 12, one of which is a boy, I am pretty sure (the BA) and some which I suspect to be boys (Delaware, RIR, Campine [who doesn't count towards the 90% accuracy, she was unsexed], and EE].
So, if they are all boys, that makes 6 of my order of 16 (5 that they incorrectly sexed). And there could be some surprise boys hiding in the other chicks that I am not yet suspicious of.
I will wait until they are around 12 weeks, and I should be able to tell who is what by then, but I am really upset with the number of boys I can possibly end up with. I planned for 2, not 6.
