help sex this Barred rock

So this is a chick that hatched on new years day! the roo is pure Barred rock, and the hen is Buff orphington
I know that the roosters are usually grey/light and not black, but i don't know how much the BUFF is changing the
little fellas colors. ANY INPUT WILL HELP!
heres some things i noticed-
some gray on its legs
wings are growing in fast
still no comb
small dot on the head
wing feathers were very staggered durring the first 48 hours

What a pretty baby! I have a BR/BO chick. She is a very dirty white with barely visible barring. She was never the beautiful gray that yours is.
(that said, since they aren't sex linked, it doesn't mean that yours is a boy - it just means that I think yours is prettier, lol!)

i have 2 chicks that were born to a br roo and buff hen and mine are black with whte heads and i will post pics lqter. and he/she is very beautiful by the way

Hmm, he/she is too young to be sexed. Wait a couple more weeks and you might get an answer.

I don't think a br/buff orp cross can be feather sexed, and it's backwards for a sex link. So, ya just gotta wait a while.

to young to tell for sure but if you want a guess...i will use your wing feathers and a stagered line of pin feathers means cockerel but this is only true if it carries the fast feathering gene that is used to wing sex day old chicks

Ok, something weird happened today. My BR rooster was crowing around the chick to were they could here it. and i saw the chick trying to mimic the crow a few times, no sound came out, but it made the EXACT movements my rooster does when they crow! Is this a sign? Has this happened to a chick this young before?

it is probobly just chocking on some food chicks do that sometimes and it is often confused as an attempt t crow
