Can someone help me decide if this is male or female? I was told it’s female by the guy that sold it to me. The silver one is definitely a male. They are in the same cage and get along great I think maybe 4-5 weeks old. I checked them by turning them over and the dark one definitely is bigger than the male but I’m still thinking it may be male idk 🤷‍♀️

Looks like 4 males. The gray one I believe can be gendered by the bib, the others are classic male darth/rb males.

It’s actually only two I just took more pictures of the dark one. I have one silver one dark. Sorry I wasn’t clear

I agree with FloorCandy. They look like males. I have 3 RB males currently looking just like yours. It’s tough to tell, I know. I also have 4 pure white that were hard to sex until they got more mature.

The dark is definitely a male. I’m less certain of the gray because normally males have bibs, but rb hens also have bibs, but they’re different, and the hens are speckled. Since I’ve been out of buttons for a while, I forget all the intricacies of markings.

Males have solid colours .. females often speckle out, less solidity and less vibrance. Only males get the red/blue colouring. Females can have bibs but theyre usually dilute bibs, not all males have the pronounced bibs.

Silver males usually have a minute amount of pink/blush feathers around the vent. But it can extend to the same amounts of red as u see in ur darth male.

Males live very happily together if there are no females to squabble over, even then, give them enough space and they still live happily together with a female each. They're not like corties who need several females to each one. They're monogamous to their chosen, but will accept a new mate if the old one dies.

Males are prettier and more confident. Where females can be a bit more skittish and duller colours. The only colour really tht u have to wait til eggs show up are the whites and splashes (if the splashes flanks are white) any bird with colouring around their tails and flanks are easily sexable by 6-8 weeks sometimes earlier if theyre male.

Those males are older than 4 weeks. They're in their adult feathers. So they're at least 9 weeks old. They'd still have their juvey feathers at 4 weeks looking duller and more speckled. Xx
