Hello!

Can you please help me sex my two Khaki Campbell 7 week olds? They are not quaking yet. We had someone try to vent sex and was told that the one with the dark bean was a male. They said that they were sure that the one with the caramel bean was a female. Please help! We can’t have 2 Drakes.

Thank you!

When they peep do either sound a little hoarse or raspy at times or the peeps very clear? If I had to guess based on the pictures I actually think the one with the darker bean is female and the other male based on the pronounced feather lacing pattern on the lower back above the tail and lack of pattern on the other. The one with the caramel bean also has what looks to be a darker head and the black bean lighter.

The one with the caramel color bean still only peeps, the black bean sounds raspy.

They're going to start molting in a couple weeks, then the difference will be obvious.. khaki drakes have a darker greenish head. Not as green as a mallard or rouen, but a hue. My khaki girls still rarely quack compared to the rouens.
Curious why can't you have two drakes?

Thank you! My Khaki Campbell Drake’s head turned green at 7 weeks old.
Thank you for telling me about your girls!
I can’t have two drakes because I don’t have enough ducks for the ratio.

So sorry, but they are both drakes. Although the plumage resembles a female, only males have the dark, solid feathers above the tail, females have lighter, two-toned feathers. Here is a picture of two of my Khakis when young. Very sorry!
