My first time breeding this cross. Am I correct that my only male is the one at the bottom left with the head spot?
Is the different down colour an indicator as well? He has different coloured stripes to the others.

Thank you in advance.

Males don't have the dark v shaped stripe that starts on top of the head and continues down the back like a female. They also don't have as much 'eye liner' around the eyes(female below)

That is only for pure bred Welsummers and pure bred Cream Legbars.

I’m wanting feedback from those who have bred this cross before.
My understanding is they should be sex-links, with only the male chicks having the barring gene and should therefore have a head dot. I’m wanting to know if this is a reliable indicator, and if the colour difference is a factor as well.

Did you breed a welsummer rooster to a legbar hen? The males would get one copy of the barred gene from the hen . Crossing them the other way around (Legbar rooster over a welsummer hen)the rooster would passes the barred gene down to both (you wouldn't have sex links)

Yes, Welsummer Roo over Cream Legbar hens.

You have an advantage crossing your rooster over the legbars because they'll be sex links .The cockerels will have barred feathers when they start feathering out. They'll usually have shorter tails,a bigger comb and longer legs.My hen hatched 1 chick from a welsummer hen and a legbar rooster.(first photo ) The 2nd and 3rd photo's are a crosses between a legbar rooster and brown leghorn hens. All of my chicks are barred as you can tell as they feathers out

Your chicks are adorable.Has the chick started getting a comb yet? Looks like you only have one male.

They’re looking much the same at the moment at 3wo, aside from the head spot. Combs similar, feathering similar, eyeliner much the same between head spot and no head spot (I’ve hatched 3 with and 3 without in my second batch).
Will grow out the first one for a couple of months or so, so I can see the differences in feather pattern and confirm the sex link is working as it should.

According to what you've said (welsummer rooster x legbar hen) it does indeed appear that you only have one cockerel in that batch.
