Help! Sick Baby Chicks!

I agree. Chicks will double in growth every week and outgrow their brooders quickly. I use a weighted screen on top as well, because at 2 weeks they will begin to jump up to the top, and may fall out of the brooder getting lost in your house or getting chilled. It also keeps pets out.

Thank you for the advice, but three of them are sneezing now and they weren’t the first week of their lives. I don’t know if it’s the pine shavings or the food, but it is beginning to worry me. The set up is the exact same as the first week. They are also rubbing their heads on the ground and I don’t know if they are just cleaning their beaks or what. It seems to have started two days ago.

I have found the culprit for the sneezing! The food container was too low so when they stuck their heads in they were inhaling dust. I thought they would just finish the container off, no problem, but I guess I have to keep it filled to the brim all the time. I have fixed that issue and they not sneezing as much.
