HELP! I have 8 chicks, about a week old. I just got home and went in to check on them. One was sleeping and I didn't note anything of it. After I changed to water and food I noticed that the chick still hasn't moved. The other chicks were pecking it and walking on it so I picked it up and it was still breathing but it didn't open it's eyes. I placed it on the ground and it just laid awkwardly on it's wing and legs out, then closed it's eyes again. I separated it and made sure to offer it food and water, (although it didn't take any of it) even putting in sugar with the water. I have no idea what to do at this point, or even if there is anything to do... If you could help me please let me know I really don't want to lose any more of my flock!

Sometimes there is a situation where there is failure to thrive.
Keep her warm, and obviously away from her clan, but be prepared to accept nature.
You are sweet to at least give her/him a graceful exit.....

Thank you for your kind words. As much as I am hoping that is not the case I know I must be understanding of the fact that somethings just won't work out.

Run warm water out the faucet. Put chicks bum under and let run until all the poop is washed off. Then I blow dry the chick on a warm setting. They get chilled quite easily. Check the other chicks bums also. The pasty butt has to be cleaned every day. If you have a farm store around they should have nutridrench or chick electrolytes for tomorrow. Keep dipping its beak in the water. It needs to drink every couple hours.
