My chicks are 2 weeks old now. Tonight I was outside and spotted a small caterpillar on my apple tree. It was only about a quarter of an inch long, and I couldn't resist.
I dropped it into the brooder with my babies. One of my Barred Rocks swallowed it down. Now about an hour later when she lays down, she tips over onto her side and kicks.
Aimost like she's drunk. When I open the top to pick her up, she jumps up and runs from me, which is nornal. She is eating with the others.
Did I make a fatal mistake?

Is it warm in the brooder and is she under the lights when she does this? She may be "sunbathing." They fall over like they are dying and spread their wings out, but can be startled out of it. Let us know....

She seems to be fine this morning. It was really strange. Almost like she was loosing her ability to stand.
No more insects until they're older!

Thanks
