Warning:the picture looks bad. Any ideas as to what is wrong with her? This started 2 days ago and the other hens were pecking her butt. I think they saw the red blood and were after that. I have her separated from the others, have given her epsom salt soak baths, used triple antibiotic ointment, and Vaseline around the inflamed area. I have given her plain yogurt in addition to her regular pellets. She is eating. At first I thought she was brooding because of the way she was acting and given those signs, still not sure she was not.
Any ideas as to what is wrong and what I can do?

She is walking like normal, just slow. Not like a penguin.

Try to keep the tissue moist with vaseline, honey, sugar, ointment, oil, etc., you don't want the exposed tissue to dry out.

Soaking her like you have been doing can be helpful as well.

Get extra Calcium into her to help with retention.
You can find Calcium Citrate with D3 in the vitamin aisle of stores like Walmart, CVS, etc. Give 1 tablet daily, just pull down on her wattles, pop the tablet into the beak and let her swallow.

Is she able to poop?

Thanks so much! I will get the calcium this morning.
Yes, she is able to poop.
