Thanks everyone. I am sure he is not out if the woods yet, but to go from looking like he wanted to die to almost normal in 48 hours makes me very happy. I will post photos from this morning later today and update in the morning.
Kuntrygirl, Maybe closest to the last poo.
Casportpony, thanks for the encouraging words.
Will catch him and do the heat tonight.
Sounds like he can have a whole tablet. Right?
If he were mine, I'd give the whole thing. FYI, mine are sick again and I decided to give them more this time. Yesterday, each got a 250mg tablet, which is way more than 30mg/kg dose, but all look much better today. I also know that many of the turkey people dose at a much higher dose than the 30mg/kg. If sepsis has set in, I think a higher dose might help since you don't have any Baytril, but I am not vet, so it's up to you... I'm with you, either way.
OK I will get the safeguard for goats. The first pill was 1/2. Then today I have him a whole pill this morning and a whole pill before coming to work this afternoon. I was going to give another whole pill in the morning. Should I drop down to 1/2 twice a day after that to make them last?
Can I do the Safeguard Friday or should I wait?
I would make sure that I had enough to last at least five days. If that means giving half a day, then do that. Your other choice would be to order Fish-Zole (metronidazole for tropical fish) and have it delivered before the weekend. Once the weekend is here, your only chance of getting metronidazole is from the vet.
- Have you weighed him yet?
- Does his poop look any different?
- Is he drinking?
- Is he eating?
You might want to think about getting some Baytril, and you should probably overnight it.

I always worm the day I start metronidazole, but I don't know if that's necessary
I am reading and reading and reading old and new threads about meds for peas. From what I am reading (and correct me if I'm wrong), unless we have a compounded tab based on a baby pea or young pea's weight, it would be best to administer the liquid Flagyl/Metro at at least 30mg dose or administer a tab that is 50 mg because 100mg, 200mg, 250mg, etc etc etc is too much? Higher mgs would not be recommended for a baby or young pea? Any input on this?

You are correct. I'm sure that some people could crush a 250mg tablet and make their own suspension, but I would rather buy mine from a pharmacy. With the bottle I have, which is 50mg/ml, I can dose very small chicks. PeaDaddy has the 100mg/ml version.
