help! sick peacock

I gave him 1/2 of a 250 mg metronidazole and 1/2 cc of ivomec
Is there anything else I can do?
The Metro should start working within 3-4 hours. You should start seeing results. If you don't start them on Baytril. Baytril is controversial because of the affect it has on eggs and meat used for consumption. If you are NOT eating your pea eggs, don't worry about it. It's a "cover-all" antibiotic and, between both the Metro and the Baytril, will kill whatever is making your bird sick.

That said, all of the symptoms that you have stated are consistent with Blackhead.

I know I sound like "crazy bird man" here, but understand, it's only because time is of the essence in this case. If you've read my thread, we watched a bird grow more ill while consulting with the vet. He was dead 4 hours later.

You may want to keep both Baytril, and Metro on hand for instances like these.

He is still hunched, but hanging in there. When should I give him
Another pill. I just have the 250 mg. should he get a whole one? I do not
Have baytril, just amoxicillin

Every 12 hours, using the weight to dosage formula. Don't overdose. Use the formula, and give him an accurate dosage.

The good news, he's alive. He would be dead by now if the Metro wasn't working.

You need to find a good avian vet. Have them give you a prescrip for Baytril, and Metro. They're cheap ($15 a piece?), come in liquid formula, and are easy to dose in liquid form. Also, you need to learn to how do subcutaneous hydration, if you don't know how. Hydration is going to be an issue, and they will lose A LOT of water weight when they're sick. Like CaSportPony said, weigh him, and post the weight here, with the age. It will help those who know what they're doing give you the most accurate info.

Read the threads that were posted, if you haven't.
