Help! Sick rabbit?

Hello! Thank you for reading. Today on my way home from work I saw a domestic rabbit running down the sidewalk, I pulled over and he let me pick him up, poor guy almost seemed relieved. I've had him 12 hours now and he hasn't pooped once. He won't eat bunny food pellets but has ate some carrot and watermelon and a triscuit. Going to the vet isn't really in my budget but I guess if I have to... But does anyone have any tips? I know GI Stasis is serious, is there any herbs or anything I can try? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!

You can give him to Sue at Rabbit Haven in Gig Harbor. She runs a rabbit rescue that I sell hay to. She's a wonderful lady and knows her stuff. I know that may be a little far for you to drive but it's worth doing if you don't want to pay for vet bills. She's always willing to take them. Sorry I don't have anymore advice for you

If you have some hay (especially grass hay or straw) to offer him, see if he'll take up. You can also pick up Petromalt or a similar hairball product at a pet store (may be with the cat items) and follow the dosing directions.

Those are our two 'quick fixes' when someone's acting a little off.

A Pineapple piece with take care of hairballs... But maybe it just needs lots of water, first.

Thank you I'll try the hay and Petromalt and pineapple too. If he's not doing better in the next day or so I'll bring him to the vet, he's such a sweet little guy. I can't believe someone would just let him go to fend for himself in a city. I already got him a huge outdoor cage/hutch off craigslist He should have a good life now.

Don't use Petromalt. The cat hairball remedies are very bad for bunnies. They need to break up the blockage. They can't pass it like cats do. The pineapple will help break it up. Also, usually iceberg lettuce is bad for rabbits but it is all water and will help hydrate the rabbit and hopefully help the blockage a little. Greens like green leaf or red leaf lettuce, kale, parsley and romaine lettuce are good for rabbits. Also timothy or grass hay is good for rabbits.

He's pooping he's pooping!!! I think he must have been dehydrated, after eating a ton of watermelon (my boyfriends idea, thanks honey!) this morning I found poop! I've never been so excited to see BM before LOL

FYI:
Rabbits are unable to regurgitate anything.

That is great that the rabbit is doing better. Be careful how much watermelon you give him though, too much sugar.

As long as there isn't a major blockage (and really, even if there is) Petromalt shouldn't do any harm. We use it at the first sign of trouble to help any minor issues "move along" smoothly.

I'm glad the bun is feeling better!
