Yes but they have different symptoms. This rooster had crop problems though. I think its possible that they are related though.

I just checked him again for lice and found that he has the which would explain the weight loss and being lethargic. Im going to treat him with permethrin unless that would be too stressful for his body?

I sprayed him and he seemed to perk up. he drank a bunch of water, some electrolyte water, and some milk on his own as well as a little yogurt.

He seems better this morning. He was interested in his food and he stumble around a bit which is better than just standing there not moving last night. I think he gained a little weight to. Probably because hes not covered in lice.
Im planning to give him more electrolytes and he ate a little bread soaked in milk last night, so I'll give him more of that.
Im trying not to get my hopes up but he's definitely doing a little better.

Don't over do the electrolytes...once every few days should be fine.
Ans always have fresh plain water available.

I went to see him and hes looking kinda droopy again. He was trying to eat bread soaked in milk though. I saw him poop and there was a red fleshy thing so I think he might have coccidosis. Should I start him on corid?

Are you still making electrolytes or have you bought some NutriDrench? Once he is drinking and eating some, the electrolytes can be stopped, especially if they are homemade. Even NutriDrench should only be given for a few days, or they may cause diarrhea. Stop the milk. Only a little plain yogurt or buttermilk daily for probiotics are okay, but they cannot process a lot of dairy. Water is good, feed with a lot of water is good, and to get more into him sprinkle any foods with a little water. Scrambled soft egg, canned cat food, wet feed, tuna are all good as long as his crop is working. I had a sick hen who did not drink water for 5 weeks, but she got watery feed, enough to keep her hydrated, so that she survived.


How old is he? Has he had coccidiosis before? Do you have a picture of the poop?

Yes i'm making electroytes but this is the second day hes had them so maybe stop after today? I can see if I can get him nutridrench. Ok. I can stop the milk. I dont have canned cat food but I can get some. I don't have tuna either, which one would be better? His crop seems to be working, but it hasn't been full for two days. I will make sure he gets plenty of water. He drinks water so it wont be too hard.
He is three years old, he may have had it before I got him when he was 1 year old but he hasn't that I have been aware of since then. No, I can try to get one. Maybe of a different poop though.

By now he should be able to tolerate some coccidia in the environment. Usually only a sickly bird would have it at that age, but pictures can help to see if it is blood or intestinal shed. Corid is pretty harmless if you feel he needs it. Today is okay to continue the electrolytes. I would concentrate on wet chicken feed, and some cooked egg. The others are just suggestions if you have those. Ground or chopped meat with no salt, if you have a little leftover can be helpful to tempt them to eat.
