Yes he drinks good when his crop isn't too full...To maintain normal hydration, your 18 pound turkey needs 5% of his body weight in fluids each day, that's 410 ml of fluids per day. Is he drinking anything?
We gave him 210 CC's. and he drank more water, he puked up quite a bit of clear fluid when we held him for shot and fluids. Should I add any vitamins to his water? Can he eat if he wants to and is there anything else you can think of that I should give him?For what it's worth, I have a rooster that was attacked by a fox about a week ago. He cannot eat or drink , so I've been giving him fluids. He weighs about five pounds and he's gonna get 180-200 ml subcutaneously in about 15 minutes.
@micstrachan, how much Baytril did your vet prescribe?
The times I have been to the vet they have prescribed:
10 mg/kg twice a day
15 mg/kg once a day
20 mg/kg once a day
Dosing is something I pay attention to here, and the most commonly prescribed amounts seem to be :
10 mg/kg twice a day
15 mg/kg twice a day

He is drinking lots of water, I did give him some scrambled egg yesterday and he ate some of that and ate some pellets. Today he was picking at greens and ate some pellets when prompted by our turkey hens. He has been drinking lots of water today. I can still tell he doesn't feel that great yet.How is he today?
