!"My newest addition, who really hasn't taken two steps while outside decided to finally move about today....she walked under my porch and won't come out!!! There is a 6" clearance, so crawling underneath isn't an option. She doesn't seem to understand the idea of treats yet...will she come out on her own? We have about 3 1/2 more hours of light left and the idea of leaving her for the night is horrible. We get skunks who like to check things out at night!

Could a neighborhood kid help? Maybe Animal Control would be willing to help you? Maybe put a heatlamp and some familiar objects (waterer/feeder) just under the porch where you can reach her?

Oh, I wish I could help, but I'm about as available as your DH- I'm in Maine too. I'm small for my age; I might be able to wriggle and get her. The kid idea is a good one.

Will she come out on her own? Hopefully, when it gets a little darker and everyone goes to roost. If she's young she might not do this- how old is she?

Keep us updated! Good vibes coming your way!

Maybe putting another chicken in a cage and setting it right beside the opening where she went under porch..and food and water beside cage for her to get.... hope you get her rescued before dark....lilchick

Found a 12' piece of trim (for my ds room) in the garage and nudged her out of a hole I dug out of the far corner then ds grabbed her...she is back inside until I get to Home Depot for some of that green plastic fencing!!!
