Help! Silkie stuck egg, prolapse? Gross picture, sorry!

Thank you for the update, and so glad that you were able to get the egg out without it breaking. To allow her vent to heal, as Cyprus said, it will be necessary to keep her in a darkened cage or room for 16 hours daily starting at night. This can take a few days to stop laying, so she may lay again before she stops. After she stops laying for a few days, then you can let her out. Feeding can be reduced slightly to help with stopping laying, but still provide food and water.

Apply honey, hemorrhoid cream or hydrocortisone cream to her vent to help reduce swelling, , and try to push it back inside. Also keep it moist with honey, vegetable oil, vaseline, or Neosporin ointment so that it doesn't dry out. Keep her clean, and it can be helpful to give her a warm soak in either Epsom salts and water or mild soapy water once a day.

So far so good, her vent looks really good besides being a little swollen. There hasn’t been any prolapse since I removed the egg. Her vent is clean.

I’ve been keeping her in a dark room for 16 hours like you suggested.

I’ve let her out with the flock during the day and she’s doing good.

Happy update! Peaches has successfully laid 3 more eggs since this incident, and she is doing great!
