I hope I am just panicking (because I'm new to this) but one of my big girls has been laying soft shell eggs all week

(both of my big girls are 6 month old Production hens) while the other gives me an egg everyday

. Well yesterday, my DH & I are sitting outside their run watching them

when Betsy walks over by us, squats, puffs up and kinda shakes, then moves over to the other side with her butt facing us, does the same thing, something protrudes (I'm watching this thinking "oh crap...she's prolapsed") when whatever it was goes back in

, she takes three steps to the left, does it again but this time drops a soft shell egg and just stands there. She had some sort of "membrane" hanging out of her and Lucy comes over and gets it off of her and eats it

. Then they turn around and eat the egg before I can get it out. it was a normal egg but no shell. Well, since I was in the yard, I figured I would go check the waterer in the hen house and found another soft shell in the nest, this one had no yoke. My DH said he had already checked for eggs when he got home and got the one that was there (normal brown egg, shell & all) that was in Lucy's box. I take him the soft shell egg, it's wrinkled, has extra "stuff" on it, and when we held it up, there was no yoke in it. She laid 2 in one day (as far as we know) and in just a few hours is that normal????????

They are on layer rations. They have egg shells to eat, my DH is going back to the feed store today to get oyster shell. They get "treats" but havent seemed to be to thrilled with anything except bugs/crickets. Last night, after the egg laying, i gave them lima beans, green beans & corn which they seemed to like at first but then after a few minutes stopped eating it and went back to bugs.

I'm I just panicking for nothing? I am assuming it's because she's new to laying but the two in one day in just a few hours has me stumped. Please help....suggestions, thoughts anyone??

Per my DH...as of this morning there's aren't any eggs as of yet. Lucy usually lays in the afternoons. <SIGH>

I had the same thing waiting for me in a nest box on tuesday - egg with no shell and a long nasty white membrane hanging off of it! I believe it was one of my white wyandotte because she was acting strange that day. I have fed oyster shell in their pellets for the last month or so.

I was ok with the soft shell egg thinking that it's normal for a "new layer" but the two in just a few hours (like about 4 hours at most) is what really has me stumped.

I tried looking on here for "multiple" lays by same hen but did not see anything...maybe i'm looking in wrong spot.
