Help Solve messy eaters??

Last night as I was cleaning out the smelly, messy wet brooder cage that show was on in another room. I thought the same thing!
As far as I can see the only way to solve the mess problem is to *not* have ducks!

I agree, ducks are very messy. I wet my duck's mash before giving it to them. They love it. They are water fowl and need lots of water.

Now that my ducks are full grown, they get a feed pan of wet mash. In their pool, I throw some puppy food in there daily. They love it and come running.

We feed both dry and wet mash at the same time. Enough wet mash is prepared that will be consumed before spoilage. The dry mash is their backup, which they tend to eat only after the wet mash has been completey eaten.

We do this because prepared pellets from TSC ($11 / 50 lbs) are expensive as compared to mash from a feedmill ($8.5 / 50 lbs). Even with a 10% waste factor for mash, it is still a savings.

Thats great. I will have to try it, my ducklings aren't super fond of their mash and completely ignore it if there is anything else available. Maybe some wet mash will do the trick...
