First of all, I’m new to this site so please don’t judge if I screw something up…
Anyways, I own 5 coturnix quail 1 male and the rest females (all my girls lay). One day, when I come back home, one of my gals has her left eye glued shut with…something… she won’t open it, she’s lethargic And I’m really worried. This is my first time raising any poultry, so I have no experience (I should probably add that the quails are about 2 months old. Also I’m in New Zealand so recourses are hard to find)

I have taken some photos and they’re down below. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance,
Bobalina

How are your birds about handling them ?
Could you take a warm wet cloth abd gently rub it’s eye ?

Update:
The girl is in her own box inside the house with her own food and water. I tried gently dabbing a moist q tip on her eye, it wiped the gunk off of her eye, but it still won’t open :(
I can’t bear the thought to lose her, as she is the most tolerant with handling (she will snuggle into me then I scratch her neck):hit

I would continue to try wiping her eye with a mildly warm wash cloth. Depending on how much gunk is in her eye, it may take a few days before she wants to open it. Make sure where ever you do this is not too bright, as intense light may keep her from opening the eye at first. Once the lids are open (do not use force to open the eye) then you can get a better idea of what the problem is. Let us know please what you find, pictures would be great. So you can continue to treat the underlying problem.
If you think of anything else please post. We are always glad to help with what we can, and call over people with more experience to help you out.
:frow Welcome from New Orleans, to a friendly, informative site on the internet !

Thank you for the advice. I’ll put her in a room where she won’t be disturbed…now I guess I need to play the waiting game

Another update:
The poor girl is taking a snooze right now, but I’m concerned about the way that she’s sleeping, cuz normally she’ll sleep sitting down, but she’s standing up and has her head tucked under her wing and sleeping like that. Also her pops are a liquidy greenish consistency. An image of her sleeping is attached below
