Help I dont want to kill it if it can be saved But I dont know what to do.... Something plucked my hen! The other escaped w/o a mark (as far as I can tell but she hasnt came out of the trees yet.

ANY pointers would be helpful!

Thx for the reply tdepointe

I do not know what happened... I heard them barking and went out I seen nothing strange going on.... When I came back from town this one was laying next to the steps missing Lots of feathers. I put her back in the coop with xtra share water and some carrots but not sure if there is anything I can do to help her.

Maybe some antibiotic rub this eve?

Keep her cool and shaded for the time. While shes not moving much she did make the 100' trip to the setps from where the pile of feathers are. Just looking to see if and what type 1st-aid to give.

Thx

Yes antibiotic on the open would, neosporin ointment works well.
Is she eating and drinking?

I would be causes about keeping her in the coop because the other birds my pick at her. If you have another location you can keep her away from the other birds while she recovers it would be better. A a dog cage, box, section off part of you coop to keep the others away from her.

Definitely put some antibiotic cream on her injuries BUT make sure it is the kind that does NOT have pain killers in it. Pain killer laced antibiotic cream can be harmful to chickens. Good luck.

I just recently heard a royal commotion with my chicken/guinea flock, right after I let them out of the coop. I later found my favorite chicken with her tail "Completely" gone.

She was in shock for a few hours but soon made a total recovery. There was no bleeding but there was a ton of feathers on the ground under the coop.

I set up a game camera and the very next morning there was a fox on it!

I sure hope you catch what did that! I know I was worried sick.......
