Just had a silkie chick hatch this afternoon and right away I could tell something seemed wrong. As far as I can tell so far it’s just with its foot. It seems crooked. Will it be ok? How can I help it?

Leg problems happen from time to time when hatching chickens. There can be a variety of reasons why, such as birth defects or the specifics of hatching conditions.

Thankfully, if done while still young, a splint can coax bones into a normal position. So long as the chick eats and drinks normally, it should be fine.

Good materials for a splint are cardboard from a cereal box and the choice of either vet wrap or masking tape to secure the leg/foot.

This guide shows a variety of conditions and how to go about the splinting process in detail with photos. I wish you the best of luck with your silkie.

Edit: Is the issue strictly with it's foot/toes? Or does it continue up its leg?

So I used some cardboard and a bandaid to flatten the foot and an elastic and straw to help the leg. This morning the little thing is already standing good. Thanks for al your help. Fingers crossed with a bit of vitamin water it will bounce back.

That's wonderful, I hope it continues to improve. :)
