My light Brahma hen just started doing this this morning. Every time she breathes in and out......sounds like a wheel that needs to be greased. She's eating fine and looks good. Is this respiratory? The other hens are quiet. And she's laid eggs before....so not sure what this is all about. :(

It might be a contagious respiratory infection, or it could just be that her respiratory system got irritated. This happens to my girls sometimes if they insist on being in the coop while I change bedding, or if their feed is very dusty. If you're concerned about biosecurity, I would isolate and monitor her for more symptoms.

If she has any other symptoms like diarrhea, eye goop, foam in the eyes, nose goop, huddled to herself in a corner, I would definitely give her antibiotics. I think people on here suggest Tylan 50, though I have no idea as I've never done a course of antibiotics. Maybe someone who has will comment! Good luck with her.
