HELP! sticktight fleas and new chicks

Our Japanese bantam hen returned today from wherever she hid her nest - with two new chicks. We've been fighting a war on sticktight fleas, and since this hen has been away for the last few weeks, she hasn't received any treatment. Her head is literally covered with fleas. Using a small, soft paintbrush, I dabbed some Adams Flea Spray on the worst clusters of fleas around her comb, but I'm afraid to do much more for fear of harming the chicks. Does anyone have any advice on how best to help this little hen? And keep the fleas from infesting the chicks?

I remember when we had lots of roosters and my husband would regularly dip them in pine Sol (not exact on amount try 1cup) diluted in a 5gal bucket of warm water, do not rinse!This controls all sorts of mites and blood suckers,you can also try ivomec (liquid for cows) apply 1 drop to the skin under each wing, this will deworm your birds and kill feather pests from the inside out....If you are a naturalist smother the bugs by rubbing your chickens with coconut oil with a little tea tree oil all around the infested areas,allow some time to 'soak' and pick off what bugs you can the rest will die in the oily skin (the oil also works great against head lice).I hope you have some help if doing the natural way as picking the fleas out is time consuming.
