I’ve got an Easter Egger hen, about a year old, that has been laying flawlessly until about a week ago when she started laying rubber eggs. The shells have gotten harder the last couple of days but are still somewhat soft. Today her egg was busted open and a large, rather firm, brown blob (a little larger than a nickel) with a “tail” was inside. The egg white was a little bit bloody as well. The yolk looked normal. These are pasture raised chickens. They are fed organic layer pellets mixed with game bird feed. They have access to grit and all the bugs, greens, etc they can find in our pasture. I’ve never seen anything like this. Anyone have any insight? Is my sweet girl going to be ok?
