Lollipop size blood ball inside soft shelled egg (pic)

I highly doubt this happened because of a feed switch.

Major ova release glitch in a 5 year old sexlink.
Like a really big 'blood spot'.
Notice the blood/veins are just on the outside of the yolk.
Could be disease, if it continues....or just a one off and you may never see it again.

This was most likely a glitch due to age and or cancer.

I switched from layer to starter and was supplementing with calcium. Then the soft eggs started. I’ve had hens with cancer before but they weren’t actively laying with it. She laid a normal egg yesterday. Can they continue to lay with cancer?!

Yes they can continue to lay.
