I would think she maybe passed an ovarian cyst along with a yolk, which then got wrapped in soft shell before being expelled. Just a guess
 
Sexlinks use a lot of calcium, so switching to chick start with side oyster shell may not be sufficient for an aging hen.

I would switch back to dedicated layer feed. I have one hen that lays soft shells unless she is on dedicated layer feed.

And I totally agree with the others...that was not an embryo but ovarian misfire with veining into a soft shell...probably early release.

Older hens, especially RSL will have odd laying as they age. 5 years for an RSL is ancient....and yes, very prone to ovarian cancer.
