Hi everybody! I'm newbie!!
Just looking for a little help, my 16 week old hen has a swollen eye. I've been searching and trying to figure out what to do. She is not the most docile and fights with our rooster frequently! I'm wondering, since of course I am thinking its worst case, when in all reality it is probably just an injury... What should I be doing with her? Going to post some not so great pics. She had some bubbling last night but that seems to be gone now. Any insight is appreciated, thanks!!

Greetings and welcome to BYC from NE TX! So glad you joined us, but sorry a possible injury to your bird brought you here. It looks to me as if she may have been pecked in the upper lid. If you have some triple antibiotic ointment (& can catch her) you can gently rub a little into/on/around her injured eye. I have used it in similar instances with good success. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me will never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!

Thank you so much! I will enlist my great chicken wrangler( my 7yr old, who is currently fighting for my phone) to help me. I was afraid I would have to start antibiotics and really didnt want to. Going to update my profile nowish, just wanted to start with the post. Thank you! And thank you for the welcome!

An ointment like Neosporin or triple antibiotic will be fine but do keep an eye out for any respiratory symptoms such as sneezing other eye starting to swell too or sitting fluffed op with loss of interest in food:pop

I have been sneaking around trying to catch some sneezing, wheezing, the likes, but nothing. She seems to be totally fine, eating and drinking..and fighting. We are going to put some on her right after I locate it. My home seems to swallow things up
