I need some help! Some of my chickens have gone broody and mites been biting their faces and cleaned the coop and separated the ones that has the swollen faces and just now I found two more of my hens with bites and swollen faces. The first two I’ve been cleaning their faces but one of them both eyes are still shut and she hasn’t been eating for 3days now. I’m afraid she going to die soon. But I’m worried about the others. What can I do??!!

Can you post some photos?
Are they mites or fleas?

What are you using to treat them with?
It’s definitely mites, little tiny things that craw all over your arms when you carry the infested ones.

I’ve been using warm water for swollen eyes and I put neosporin around the bumps.

the two new hens I observed with the same is pictured.
Ive been researching and it might be fowl pox?

Have you not used anything to treat the mites?
You can find permethrin based poultry spray or dust at feed stores like TSC.

Treat the birds and their housing to rid of the mites. Carefully treat the heads as well.

The swelling of the faces could be from severe infestation. I would flush the eyes with saline and apply ointment like Terramycin in the eyes to see if that helps as well.
