HELP- thoughts on the boughton 902a coop?

Our family is very excited to join the chicken lovers community. We've researched quite a bit and now are in the all familiar coop quandry. The husband is very busy and can't build something too intricate at this time. Do you have any knowledge about the boughton 902a coop? We are hoping to get 6 rhode island reds but want to make sure we get the most practical, easy to clean coop...with the knowledge that much time and energy will go into our new chicken lifestyle! Any other suggestions about coops? We are also considering the Chick n barn-- with the modifications that one member made by building it on top of another wired in area (Dawn, I think her name is)... Any and all suggestions and comments would be so much appreciated.... Thank you.

I can't recall exactly what they look like, although I'm sure I've seen it on a post.

Also, not sure about the cost, how much are they?

I've seen several on here that have bought those small plastic ( rubbermaid maybe) buildings from Lowes or Home Depot, or even the small playhouse kits.

Perhaps you should compare the costs with these.

I was just looking at the boughton 902a coop, I didn't see a square footage for it but I'm questioning if it's really large enough for six chickens to live in full time? Where do you live? If you ever have to close up your chickens inside the upper part for multiple days I see potential problems due to the space issue. Maybe that's not an issue where you live.

The only other question I would have regarding it is how easy is it to get underneath if you need to catch a chicken or clean, etc.?

However, other than those thoughts it looks like a very nice coop. Hopefully someone here with personal experience will see your question and give you some better answers.

Thanks for your replies. I, too, am concerned about the space issue as well as the clean up/catching chicken potential. It does have the option to come with wheels but it is already expensive to begin with. I may have to look into getting someone to help me build a coop: It seems more cost effective. Thanks again.

Well there are plenty of samples to look at on this forum.

I have pictures posted of mine as it was going up. Pretty simple, and when I finish the run, I will only have about $450 in it.
