Hi all,

I have a female rouen which is about 3 months old.
This morning I noticed she has a tiny hole near the tip of her beak (pic attached).

Her behaviour is normal, eats well, etc...

Would anyone know what could it be?

thanks

It is sooo tiny I wouldn't worry too much about it. As long as baby is drinking and eating and otherwise acting normally. Not sure what could have caused it but sometimes those off the wall weird things just happen.

Maybe a poke from chicken wire???? It can be quite sharp. Trust me....must have poked, scratched & impaled

Chicken wire is much too thick to make a hole that tiny. At least the chicken wire I've seen is.

Hmmm, I don't know what could have caused that, but I wouldn't worry. I once rescued a duckling with a fish hook in her bill and she healed quite nicely.

I don't know of vitamin deficiencies causing holes. Drei's bill had a hole in it and I search their shelter and found one hardware cloth wire that she would have had to really work to get at, but I feel that she did indeed poke herself while foraging about. My runners are not afraid to stick their bills into cracks, crevices and holes looking for worms and such.
