Help to Identify Male vs Female Muscovy

Glad mama and ducklings are safe! My mama duck is on her second clutch. We are trying to fence her in without disturbing her. The first ducklings she layed I had to rescue because something yanked her off her nest and she wouldn't go back to the nest. I raised those with success. I may need to do the same with these new ones. She does have a better place for her nest. Hoping the best for yours and mine.
I hope that too!! Maybe she will do real good this time with them. fencing them in away from the flock is best for the babies and the mama.

I already have them separate. She is down at our ponds with the drake. I believe the animal that yanked her off was an egg eater because it didn't hurt her other than removing her from the nest and two eggs were shattered and empty. There must have been some sort of tussle though because there were a bunch of loose feathers at the entrance to the nest and like I said she wouldn't return there. The ducklings are now 13 weeks and are up here with me. I keep them in a coop at night.

I got some pics of the 2 newest ducklings and their mama. she is very protective and doesn't like me to get close to her or the babies so the pics are not the close-up shots. The mama is black & white but the babies came out as: one is brown & yellow and the other is solid yellow. the 2 that got gone (by the hawk) 1 was black and yellow and 1 brown and yellow.

It looks drakey. Size is key however ducks don't weigh much at this age but drakes can. Pick up the bird if you can and see if it feels dence. Drakeletts also seem to be more attention seeking than ducks during this period of life. Lastly go with your gut. We online are only guessing but your gut knows even though it may be different from what you want us to tell you.
