Help.....To Many Roosters.

You could order them from one of the hatcheries. I think that would be the easiest way to get more pullets. You'll probably want about 25 anyway if you plan on keeping all 4 boys in with the girls.

Where are you? It's not in your profile, you may be surprised how many of us peeps are neighbors.
Maybe there will be someone close by that can help you out!

I just called the local Co-Op to see if there is a place and it is the same place I mentioned. So the next time they have the poultry sale I am going to be getting some.

Before all 30 of our chicks were slaughtered the plan was to keep the boys seperate until they were big enough to eat. :) Rotisserie chicken yum! Since then I just bought from a breeder who assured me they were all female and if they weren't to bring the roos back and switch for hens.

I do put all the chickens and roo's in at night. And sometimes there just in there coop all day instead of free range. there are tiffs once and a wile but nothing that draws blood.

@ furbabymum.....We are not going to eat them. They are pets/egg layers.

We had to bring the one in because I found him on his back in the rain cold and shivering. I have him in a crate and nursing him back to health. I am now giving him medicine and keeping him away for a few days until he gets better. I hope he is going to be ok. It was the only thing I could do at this point. Keeping him away for a few days I think will help.

I also built them a yard to play in and it gives them more room to move. If I would have known about pullets I would have chose them with one rooster. If there is a next time I will ask more questions and ask for hens instead.

Just an update on my hurt rooster.....he is doing a lot better. His cuts are healing well and I am. Going to be putting him back in the coop soon.....And he is learning how to crow. It's. Funny how he gets about half of it out and stops. :)
