So I have 4 ducks who will be turning 12 weeks tomorrow, two Pekin (one of which is my ONLY female), one WH, and one blue Swedish. I was pretty disappointed when I found out I ended up with 3 drakes but soon became pretty worried knowing I may have to rehome some😓. They all get along amazingly and have never fought...yet. Since I have too many males, I was given the option of eating them (which I would never be able to bring myself to do), giving them away, or separating the female from the boys during mating season. My hopes were to just add more females but I simply do not have enough space for all the ducks needed to satisfy three drakes. I think trading two males for two females would do the trick. Does anyone here know if separating them would be just fine or would that cause my drakes to fight too often? Or does anyone know someone who would be willing to trade two females for two males?

I have managed to rehome males, but I usually rehome them for hardly any cost of craigslist. But I know they may end up eating the males, and I am ok with that. If that is really what you don't want to do, you will have a harder time. I have seen people post ducks not for eating and they are there for a long time.

They can do ok with separation, but you will need another female for company. The males will need a run with a cover or roof, so they can't get out of it. The females will unlikely miss the males. Mine never miss my drake when I separate him out for the day.

I guess I will definitely have to rehome them, I knew the time was coming but tried to ignore it. Hopefully, there's someone who meets my needs and I meet theirs, thank you for your input it really helped

rehome your girl! without her the boys will have a much better chance of getting along, and it is 100x easier to find a pet only no kill home for a girl. personally, even though i love my girls so much, i will only ever adopt drakes again.
I thought of that too! except my girl is way too shy and isn't one to defend herself, I thought it would be best for her to stay where shes comfortable

Good day, I'm in the same situation. 3 drakes 1 female. We have 12 chickens (hens) would the drakes hurt them if we live them together during mating season ? I'm thinking ofaybe rehoming the female , but I am afraid they will go after the chickens and hurt them .

I also have 4 males and 2 females that are getting torn up at this point 7 months old. I could trade you?

Hey! I’ve rehomed two of my males a while back and got two females leaving my ratio to 3:1 but it’s not working since my boy Dimitri has a favorite and he actually injured her pretty badly. He’s separated from the girls and I feel terrible that he’s all alone. He can still see them but can’t interact and I still don’t know if I should rehome him too since he’s been my favorite since he was a duckling. But I want what’s best for my hardworking girls so if that means rehoming him I supposed I’ll have to deal with that. I’d love to rehome my boy for two additional girls but I’m not sure if we live close by for an easy exchange!
