Help - trying to save eggs from a murderous broody

Hello! :frow When I replaced the hot water bottle there was some very indignant chirping, so I am hopeful but I am trying not to be too hopeful. I did candle a few hours ago (which is when I first heard the chirping), and I couldn't see a beak shadow then. But I will be patient, monitor the warmth and hope for the best.

theyre not always easy to find. if you try again at some point look near the bottom of where the air cell has drawn down. though from the sounds of it it's getting air some where. youre probably with in 12 - 18 hours to hatching.

I don't have a heating pad, just hot water bottles. I am generally unprepared for this sort of thing, sadly.

How's it going?
Not sure. I kept them warm overnight, but I am unsure if something (heat, humidity, constancy) was off. Haven't heard anything from the chirping one since late last night. Keeping it up for today, and keeping my fingers crossed.

Hard to be patient my fingers are itching to tell you to go in. BUT IT'S NOT TIME FOR THAT YET....
eggs often get quiet. Really quiet at this point. there have been so many times I thought the chicks were dead then left them over night in the incubator and woke up to chicks in the morning.

6 more hours +/- to the 24 hour mark. Keep waiting if you can.

I will they have been handed over so i can nap, and I will keep hoping for the best.
Also made an investment in a little incubator. Obviously not going to help this time, but when Goldie broods or co-broods again I want to be able to save the chicks. The sad part is Goldie co-mothered with another of our hens last summer (that is actually what you can see in my profile picture, Goldie on the right) and she was wonderful with Lil'Red and the chick they mothered together. Obviously she can be a good mum, and she is our most frequent hen to go broody, so it is really sad that she kills her chicks.

Aw, hopefully Lily hasn't turned her off of babies forever.
