My 2 year old hen was lifted by a hawk and we found her lying lame on the ground shortly after. I brought her in and she has been alone in the crate since. Her neck has been hanging low since i found her. She was panting and had a racing heart rate for about 2 hours after the incident I looked for visible injuries and can only tell that a wing looks like it might be injured and there are 2 small possible tallon marks under that wing.
She is now not panting (6 hrs later) but is standing on her feet with her head and neck down. She has had some water when I
700

put it under her mouth. She doesnt seem to lift her neck. A vet is not an option for us as there is not one within reasonable distance.
Can anyone tell me if this is a common symptom or shock? Or if its more likely a neck injury?

Any advice is very appreciated.

Thanks!
Liz
