Hello. I had a fox get in my coop and have one Polish hen alive but barely.

She is breathing but her neck feels like it has a crook in it. Eyes shut and laying down. She won’t stand up on her own. No other injuries. Assuming she has head trauma and in shock from attack.

I gave her a little water and electrolytes and have her insured just lying down.

I’m not sure what to do next. Just leave her alone lying down to rest or how I can help with her head and neck trauma. I don’t know if it’s broken or if it’s the right thing to do is put her out of her misery.

Any advice is much appreciated

I'd probably give it a few days and see how it does. If it survives the shock it should recover. If it's neck was broken it probably wouldn't be alive still.

Keep it quiet and comfortable and put food and water close by. If it doesn't drink in the next 24 hours you may need to try to get it to drink with a syringe.

Put a drop in its beak and let it swallow. I'd probably add some electrolytes or even a bit of brown sugar for energy in the water, but hopefully it drinks on it's own. Chickens can aspirate easily, so it's always a danger when trying to give them liquids. I'd give it 24 hours before trying this.

She is doing ok. Isn’t opening her eyes much and jsut standing and resting. She will drink water if I put some by her beak but won’t eat anything’s
