Hi
Today is day 27 almost 28 of my five call duck incubation period. Two pipped the shell this morning early and have been moving and making some noise occasionally throughout the day. Three others are moving and peeping but no pips. One of these has a crack so it was duck taped. We didn't think it had a chance so we peeled away shell and membrane until it was most if the way out. The membrane is partly clear and bloody and th other part was hard and rubbery. The duckling is lying 3/4 of the way out of the shell and looks normal. What should we do with this duckling and should we help the others? It is in the incubator but I don't know whether to mist or anything.
Thanks

As long as they are moving let them try on their own. They can be a day or 2 late with no issues. If you notice they are starting to die off I would help them out a bit

I just hatched chicks. Most were ok, but 3 were shrink wrapped. I carefully cracked open shell at aircell. I moistened membranes with mist and damp warm towels. I left chicks in eggs, wrapped in towels. I was careful not to cover nostrals. They busted themselves out when they were rested and ready! Dont peel membrane if it bleeds. You can push it back, if blood vessels are gone.
Good Luck!!

The duckling is all the way out of the shell and looks completely normall except she has a pale hairless lump on her stomach (possibly her stomach) the size of a marble. Is this normal or is something seriously wrong?
